Management Structure

The chart below shows the structure of the TeraNova organisation.

Chart showing the management structure of TeraNova

This Theme deals with Functional Components such as new sources, detectors and amplifiers. This Theme deals with basic science activities that underpin all applications and with first stage (proof of principle) demonstrators. This Theme deals with the development of second stage Demonstrators. The Workpackages in this Theme deal with Training, Dissemination, Exploitation and Management of the Project as a whole. This Workpackage deals with the development of femtosecond lasers to generate terahertz radiation. This Workpackage deals with the development of Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCLs). This Workpackage deals with the generation of CW terahertz radiation by mixing of laser beams operating at infrared wavelengths. This Workpackage deals with the development of detectors and amplifiers for use at terahertz frequency. This Workpackage deals with the development of a bio-assay system to recognize the presence of genetic mutations using terahertz radiation. This Workpackage deals with the development of a microscope instrument for operation at terahertz frequencies. This Workpackage deals with the first-stage development of a terahertz scanner to deliver maps of the important electrical properties of semiconductor wafers. This Workpackage is concerned with fundamental science for use in applications. This includes: spectroscopy of materials of biological or security interest; investigating the nature of scattering and propagation of terahertz radiation in materials such as clothing and powders; and conducting feasibility studies for the realisation of terahertz –based security systems. This Workpackage deals with issues of management and exploitation for the two Demonstrators This Workpackage deals with the development of a semiconductor scanner for devices and wafers that provides characterisation information non-destructively and which is ready for exploitation in the marketplace. This Workpackage deals with the development of terahertz systems for the assay of biological liquids and the imaging of single cells.
